The Village of Mokena issued its second water conservation warning to residents on June 25, following a previous call to conserve on June 11.

The is once again asking residences to carefully monitor their outdoor watering habits, according to the Village’s website. The Village, is asking residences to skip their next scheduled watering, along with other steps.

On June 25, the Village posted on its website that, while the "Yellow Zone," is helping, homeowners still need to be cautious with their watering habits.

"Water reserves across the region and here in Mokena are being stressed on a daily basis. With dry conditions in the forecast again, maximum water demand will continue to exert a strain on those reserves," said Lou Tiberi, Mokena’s Public Works Director, in a statement on the Village’s website. "Water main breaks, fires, and other unforeseen events at a time like this could result in considerable negative consequences for the region and our community."
