D161 Board Approves New Summit Hill Assistant Principal

John Wade, a seventh- and eighth-grade teacher from Kankakee Junior High School, was hired by the board of education Wednesday to be the new assistant principal for Summit Hill Junior High School during a special meeting.

The board approved the hiring of John Wade as the new assistant principal for during a special meeting Wednesday, Aug. 1, according to a district press release.

For 14 years, Wade has been working as a seventh- and eighth-grade language arts and social studies teacher, the release stated. He also has worked as a coach at the school, recently heading up the junior high's summer baseball team.


“We welcome Mr. Wade to District 161," Supt. Barb Rains stated in the release. "He has both instructional and disciplinary strengths that match the goals and objectives of the District.”

Wade will be taking over for Christine Hudziak, who held the position previously. Hudziak was transferred to  in June, .


Wade joins Pam Hodgson, the newly hired principal at Summit Hill Junior High School. .

Wade's first day is scheduled for Aug. 6.

When Mrs. Carrey retired Mrs. Hudziak requested to go to Rogus as the AP.

Lets get rid of some of these "hangers on" administrative jobs. There doesn't need to be assistants and assistants for assistants. Why can't the Manager do his/her job without an assistant? Too much middle management in the schools. What a waste of taxes!
