D210 Buys Property Next to Lincoln-Way West

Lincoln-Way High School Dist. 210 is scheduled to close on property purchased next to L-W West High School.

The Lincoln-Way High School Board of Education approved a planned purchase of property next to Lincoln-Way West High School.

Ron Sawin, assistant superintendent of business for LWHS D210, said the district is scheduled to close sometime early this coming week on a three-quarter acre parcel at 21717 S. Gougar Road. The purchase price is $110,000 for property just south of Illinois Highway and north of the Canadian National Railroad tracks.

"It's surrounded on three sides by Lincoln-Way West," he said.

The small ranch house is about 100 years old, added Sawin. The elderly owner passed away recently, and the family approached the school district about buying the property.

"We had a walk through," said Sawin, but a thorough evaluation will happen after the close—"once we get our guys over there."

The district has not yet decided the fate of the building. It could be rented out or used as a project for students.
