Five Things You Need to Know This Week: Election Day; Battle of the Burbs Blowout

  • its status as 101.9 FM's 2011 Battle of the Burbs champion with a live broadcast at Village Hall Monday at 7:30 a.m. Entertainment will include music from the Mokena Junior High band, an appearance by Men in Kilts and a seven-plane flyover, according to a release. Refreshments will be provided by , and .
  • Tuesday is election day. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Your precinct will be listed on your voter registration card, or you can use the Will County Clerk's precinct lookup.   • After you visit the polls, it might be a good idea to finish up your taxes before the April 18 filing deadline sneaks up on you. On Tuesday, will provide tax assistance and preparation services at Mokena Community Public Library District at no cost to any low and moderate income taxpayer, with emphasis on those ages 60 and older. The aide will be at the library from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
