L-Way East Makes Newsweek's Top 500 Schools

The school came in at 440 out of 500 in the news magazine's yearly list.

Griffins have another prize to cheer for – the school was named one of Newsweek magazine's top 500 high schools in the nation.

In the yearly list, which Newsweek has been compiling for more than a decade, Lincoln-Way East came in #440.

Unlike in past years, Newsweek didn't rank solely based on AP tests taken per graduate, but on six criteria. Graduation rate, college matriculation rate and AP tests taken per graduate each counted for 25 percent of a school's final score. Average SAT/ACT scores and average AP/IB scores both counted for 10 percent, and AP courses offered per graduate counted for 5 percent.
