U.S. News and World Report has named Lincoln-Way East High School the 53rd best high school in the state in its 2014 ranking, which was released this week.
The top four schools are all Chicago selective enrollment high schools. You can view the full list here.
Nationally, Lincoln-Way East was ranked No. 1319.
The methodology, which was unchanged since last year, looks at three main factors to decide a school’s ranking: whether students are performing better than statistically expected for the average student in the state; whether disadvantaged students are performing better in math and reading than the state average for their peers; and the school’s “college-readiness” performance, based on AP or International Baccalaureate test data.
In Illinois, the Prairie State Achievement Examination is used to gauge student performance to determine the ranking.
