On Friday, January 10, 2014, Mokena Junior High School will host its annual Geography Bee.  This school-level bee is part of the nationwide National Geography Bee and is sponsored by the National Geographic Society.  Students from all fifty states are participating in the 2014 National Geography Bee.

There are three levels of competition:  school, state, and national.  The semi-finalists who qualified for the school-level competition were ranked among the highest-scoring students on a written test which was taken by students in all of the social studies classes at Mokena Junior High School.  To compete for advancement from the school to the state level, the winning student in each school must take a written multiple-choice qualifying test.
