Mokena Resident Earns Honor at North Central College

Jackie Niemeyer will be teaching sixth grade in Homer Glen in the fall.

Jacqueline Niemeyer, daughter of James and Regina Niemeyer of Mokena, was awarded the Outstanding Major in Elementary Education Award during Honors Convocation May 13 at North Central College in Naperville.

A senior, Jacqueline is majoring in elementary education at North Central College. She is a graduate of Lincoln Way North High School.

Jacqueline, a Presidential Scholarship recipient, was a member of North Central’s education honor society Alpha Delta Delta. She volunteered for the Next Level Mentoring program at Beebe Elementary School in Naperville and taught first and second grade students from a high need school during her summer breaks. Jacqueline also completed the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA), a performance-based assessment process designed by educators to determine whether new teachers are ready for the job. She also was a member and captain of the Cardinal Color Guard.

Jacqueline’s name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. In fall 2014, she will be teaching sixth grade in Homer Glen.
