School Supplies: What Mokena Junior High School Students Will Need

Patch is making a list—and you're checking it twice—of all the supplies your student(s) will need this year at Mokena Junior High School.

With Mokena area schools preparing to open their doors in just about a month's time, school supplies will soon be flying off the shelves. In case you're wondering what exactly your kiddo needs, Patch has compiled a list, according to each school's respective website.

General Supplies

  • Wide-lined loose leaf paper (four classes)
  • Pocket folders (approximately seven)
  • Spiral notebooks (approximately seven)
  • Colored pencils
  • Graph paper (quad-ruled-four square per inch)
  • Pens (red and blue or black)
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Highlighters
  • Box of tissues
  • Scissors, pointed
  • Glue or paste (4 ounces)
  • 12- inch ruler
  • Index cards 3 x 5, lined
  • 3 x 3 Adhesive note pads (approximately three)
  • 3-ring binder with dividers (2-inch rings max, approximately two)
  • TI-30x scientific calculator (approximately $10-12)
  • Book covers for all textbooks (approximately five)
  • Zip drive
  • Expo markers, dry erase
  • Compass
  • Protractor

Physical Education

  • One pocket folder
  • Regulation gym suit (purchased from the MJHS physical education office, cost TBD)
  • One pair of gym shoes with non-marking soles
  • Cotton athletic socks
  • No. 2 pencils


  • 3 x 5 index cards (approximately five packs)
  • One box quart size Zip-loc bags
  • One roll of paper towels 7th Grade Only
  • One pack colored pencils 8th Grade Only

Additional materials may be requested by individual teachers during the course of the school year. 

Please label all supplies with the student's name and homeroom. The school asks that you check periodically during the year to see if supplies need replenishing.
