School Supplies: What Mokena Elementary Students Will Need

With Mokena area schools preparing to open their doors in just about a month's time, school supplies are going to be flying off the shelves. In case you're wondering what exactly little Johnny or little Suzy needs, Patch has compiled a list, according to each school's respective website.

Kindergarten

• A book bag with zipper, no wheels
• One 8-pack of Washable Crayola Markers (classic colors)
• Five boxes of Crayola Crayons (16- or 24-pack)
• One sturdy folder
• One Elmer's white glue (4-ounce size with orange cap)
• Eight Elmer's brand glue sticks
• 24 regular yellow No. 2 pencils with erasers (sharpened)
• One large box, unscented Kleenex
• Two packages unscented baby wipes
• One plastic school box, no larger that 8 x 6 in size (Spacemaker brand preferred.)
• One pair Fiskar's scissors (metal with rounded tip)
• One water color paints set (8 color only, Crayola or Prang brand)
• One roll of paper towels
• One pink eraser
• One box of gallon Ziploc bags GIRLS ONLY
• One box of quart Ziploc bags BOYS ONLY

First Grade

• One pair of non-marking gym shoes to be kept at school
• One pair of Fiskar's scissors (metal with pointed tip)
• 20 regular yellow No. 2 pencils with erasers (sharpened)
• Two erasers (pink, rubber)
• Two boxes of 24 regular sized crayons (no florescent)
• One Elmer's white glue (8-ounces)
• One large box unscented Kleenex (teacher may request an additional box in January)
• One box of water color paints (8 color only, Crayola or Prang brand, no florescent)
• One pair of headphones with 1/8” jack (for computer use, no earbuds, labeled with student's name)
• One box quart sized Ziploc bags

• One standard plastic school box
• One book bag (no rollers)
• One “old” white cotton sock, to be used for Phonics as an eraser (please label)

• One set Crayola water-washable, broad tip primary color markers (not permanent, no fine line, pastel or florescent)

Second Grade

• One pair non-marking gym shoes to be kept at school (lace or Velcro, no platform shoes)

• One school box (no larger than 6 x 8 inches)
• One set of pencil top eraser caps (no characters)
• Four sturdy, plain pocket folders (without middle insert for paper)

Additional materials may be requested by individual teachers during the course of the school year. 

Please label all supplies with the student's name and homeroom. The school asks that you check periodically during the year to see if supplies need replenishing.
