Student Council Prez Katrina Prospero Plans to Attend Miami U

The Mokena teen was the first student council president at Lincoln-Way West in New Lenox.

Katrina Prospero, of Mokena, who served two terms as student council president, plans to attend Miami University in the fall.

Prospero will graduate Thursday, June 2.

She was West High's first student council president. The school opened in 2009.

Prospero played on the softball team, participated in the pom squad and served in the National Honor Society.

She is also a member of Pi Sigma Pi, Mu Alpha Theta and the Principal's Cabinet. She was selected to be an Illinois State Scholar and received the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association Distinguised Service Award.

Prospero was also a life guard, taught swim lessons, coached cheerleading and served with the Girl Scouts.

In March, Supt. Larry Wyllie interviewed the four student council presidents, including Prospero, on video about their future plans.
