Three Mokena parks are the scene of fastpitch softball this weekend as the Lincoln-Way Blue Wave holds its inaugural Ride the Wave Fall Blast tournament, which continues Saturday, Sept. 22, and Sunday, Sept. 23.
Teams from around the area are participating in this first-time tournament, which is for girls in 10U, 12U and 14U leagues. A roster of teams and a game schedule can be found on the U.S. Specialty Sports Association website.
The event is being held in the following Mokena Park District parks around the village:
- Main Park (on four fields)
- McGovney Park (on one field)
- Grasmere Park (on two fields)
The tournament is free to spectators, and there will be concessions on sale. The event is a qualifier for the 2013 USSSA World Series.
