Mother Nature Defeats Mokena Burros in Preseason Opener: PHOTO GALLERY

All the stretching, all the walk-throughs, game planning, cone drills – finally the Mokena Burros kids got to put on the football pads and hit somebody. Then lightning struck, not the speedy tailback for the Blue Pee Wee Jrs. but real lightning.

The Blue Pee Wee Jrs. and the visiting Homer team were pulled off the field with under a minute to play due to lightning. Only the first game was played Saturday on what was intended to be a full day of preseason play. The following games were called to to the weather.

So, Monday, it's back to the stretching, walk-throughs, game planning and cone drills until the next game.

That is, if Mother Nature plays nice.
