As the school year draws to a close, the IHSA playoffs heat up.

Matt Trowbridge tossed 6.1 innings of shutout ball in Providence Catholic's 3-0 regional championship baseball victory over Benet Academy. The Celtics utilized some heads-up baserunning to push across a couple of runs.

Eric Chmielewski's one-hit pitching gem powered Sandburg to a 6-0 regional championship baseball victory over T.F. South. He struck out seven.

Kelly Christner smacked a two-run homer, and Brooke Hofer fired a four-hit shutout in Andrew's 2-0 regional championship softball victory over Lincoln-Way East. Kaitlyn Shereyk hit two homers and drove in three runs in Homewood-Flossmoor's 4-1 upset of Stagg.

H-F's Kelly Lewers scored two goals in a 3-0 sectional soccer title match victory over Sandburg. The Vikings avenged one of their two regular-season setbacks and advanced to the Normal Supersectional.
