Fall Fest Survival Guide: What to Know Before You Go

Patch's coverage of the 2012 Frankfort Fall Festival begins here with a schedule of what's happening when during the village's signature event.

Be prepared: The downtown village streets now belong to the Frankfort Fall Festival.

At the final 2012 Concerts on the Green event—incidentally, the only one this season that was moved indoors because of rain, from to the —downtown Frankfort were symbolically turned over to the and the Fall Fest committee Sunday, Aug. 26.


In fact, Cindy Heath, the 2012 Fall Fest chairwoman, and Colleen Mora, the fest's co-chairwoman, raised the event's yellow flag before the concert as a gesture to show Frankfort's signature event was unofficially under way.

Officially, the festival, with about 300 artisans selling their wares, runs from Saturday through Monday. But there are plenty of other activities and events connected to the festival that begin as early as Wednesday.

Frankfort Fall Festival Schedule

9:45-10 a.m.: Opening ceremonies and ribbon-cutting at the Info Booth
10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Arts and crafts exhibitors open
10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Food booths open

10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Arts and crafts exhibitors open
10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Food booths open
1 p.m.: Parade (see below)

10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Arts and crafts exhibitors open
10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Food booths open

31st Annual Lions Club Dance and Drawing

When: Thursday, Aug. 30. Admission starts at 7 p.m. and the drawing is held at about 11 p.m.
Where: The Beer and Entertainment Tent (BETA) at the Breidert Green parking lot
Cost: $20 per couple in advance from a Frankfort Lions Club member or through the group's website; $25 per couple at the door.
What to Expect: Sponsored by the Frankfort Lions Club, the 31st Annual Sweepstakes Dance and Drawing is a Fall Fest tradition. Tickets give participants entry to the dance as well as prize drawings, including one for $10,000. Sundance will perform the dance music, and food from will be on sale.


When: 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday; 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday
Where: The new parking lot next to the Trolley Barn, near Kansas and White streets
Cost: $1.50 per ticket; $25 for 22 tickets; $60 for 55 tickets. Rides and attractions need between two to four tickets per person.
Wristband Nights: Special $20 wristbands can be purchased for unlimited rides on Wednesday and Thursday.


The parade begins at 1 p.m. Sunday. Parade participants are encouraged to have a "Carnivale!" theme for their floats and displays. .


Breidert Green Stage

Cost: Free

11 a.m.: Kings of Dixieland (Dixieland)
1 p.m.: TNT (R&B and soul)
3 p.m.: Greg Schneider Band (country)

11 a.m.: Outcast Jazz Band (Big Band)
1 p.m.: Strung Out (classic rock)
3 p.m.: Frankfort Brass Band

Noon: Boss Tenors 2.0 (jazz)
2 p.m.: Leadfoot (bluegrass)

Beer And Entertainment Tent (BETA)

Where: Breidert Green parking lot
Cost: $5 after 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday**. $2 from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Children younger than 12 are free before 6 p.m. Food will be served by the Lincoln-Way East High School Music Boosters.

7:30-11 p.m.: Five Guys Named Moe (classic rock)

1-5 p.m.: Leadfoot and Bluegrass Escape (bluegrass)
7-11 p.m.: Midlife Crisis (music from the '60s to today)

1-5 p.m.: Timing’s Everything (pop)
7-11 p.m.: Funhouse (classic rock from the '80s)

1-5 p.m.: The Bishop (rock)

* No one younger than 21 is allowed in the entertainment tent after 6 p.m.
