What's Your Favorite Place to Take a Dip in the Southland?

Don't miss the opportunity to nominate what you feel is the BEST public swimming pool in your community or a surrounding town. It'll face off against others from the area for the title of the most-loved pool in the Southland. Dive right in!

Thanks for participating in Patch's Readers' Choice! Our nomination period is now over. Check back July 23, when live voting for your favorites begins!

-------------------

The stifling heat of summer has descended upon the Southland, and everyone's looking for ways to cool off.

Some won't have to go far—to swimming pools in their backyards—but others will flock to community pools for a quick dip on a hot day. Some pools are laidback oases, perfect for a book and a cold drink. Others are too fun to resist a ride down the slide and splashing with the youngsters.

So tell us—What's your preferred public pool in the Southland? There's no doubt that we have a repertoire of options in Orland Park, , Oak ForestPalosChicago HeightsHomewood-FlossmoorEvergreen ParkOak LawnFrankfortNew Lenox and Mokena

Nominate your favorite community pool by telling us in the comments. Here are a few suggestions; however, they STILL NEED TO BE NOMINATED to be included in the poll! As pools or water parks are nominated, they'll be added to the list and bolded.

  •  in Orland Park
  •  in Palos Heights
  •  in Homewood

We will accept nominations through July 9.

White Water Canyon Water Park in Tinley Park. I LOVE this pool, I have moved away but I still continue to come to the pool even though it is a drive for me. There is alot to do for small children to adults. (:

White Water Canyon in Tinley Park. Clean, observant lifeguards, variety for little ones (I have a toddler and she LOVES it here!) and a snack bar to squash the hungry/thirsty feeling without emptying your wallet.

Lawn Aqua Pool in Oak Lawn Illinois. 51 years young and still the best place to swim in the southland. Started by a group of families that needed a place for their kids to have fun during the summer so they bought the property on 111th street and had the pool built and families are still hanging out there!!!

Orland Park's pool is the best. I was at the pool in TP once and the guards were letting kids throw wet, hacky sacks around. I wasn't looking forward to getting one of those in my face so I never went there again.
