Wolf Road to Close for Funeral of Fallen Soldier

The route of Aaron Toppen's funeral procession will be along Wolf Road in Orland Park and Mokena.

A stretch of Wolf Road will be closed for the funeral procession of Aaron Toppen, a 19-year-old Mokena soldier killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan earlier this month.

Expect closures or delays on Wolf Road, from 179th to U.S. 30, Mokena and Orland Park police said, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until possibly 4 p.m., Mokena police said.

The funeral service for Toppen will begin at 10 a.m. at Parkview Christian Church, 11100 Orland Pkwy., and is expected to end around 11:30 a.m. Following the service, he will be carried to his final resting place at St. John Cemetery, 200 S. Wolf Rd.

Flag lines will form along the route in tribute to Toppen and his family.
