Marine Fundraiser, Hospital Move and More This Weekend
It's a full weekend in and around Mokena, with a VFW fundraiser, the Mokena Business Expo, a Girl Scout daddy-daughter dance, a new home for Silver Cross and more.
Friday
Art Show
will also be hosting the Showcase of Art show this weekend. The yearly show highlights the work of youth, teen and adult students in various park district classes. A "Meet the Artists" Gallery Opening will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Saturday

Also at The Oaks, the Mokena Chamber of Commerce will also hold a Business Before Hours catered by and sponsored by the park district at 8 a.m. Saturday, holding the ribbon cutting they weren't able to do when The Oaks first opened.

Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the will begin.
The yearly, free event will bring together 70 exhibitors, a record for the showcase of Mokena businesses and health experts. A face painter will be on hand for the kids from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and local historian Matt Galik will be signing his recently published book of Mokena history, Mokena: Images of America.
Father-Daughter Girl Scout Ball
The theme is Hollywood and everyone will enter on a red carpet filled with "paparazzi" snapping shots of local Girl Scouts and their dads. The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m.
Marine Fundraiser
From 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, will host a fundraiser for John Conrath, a Marine veteran who has been unable to work due to nerve damage following hip replacement surgery. The event costs $20 with a cash bar.

Hospital Moving
Avoid Route 6 between Joliet and New Lenox starting at 7 a.m. Sunday. That's when Silver Cross Hospital will be transporting 125 patients to .
