Shaving on behalf of Mackenzie W., an 11-year-old girl from O'Fallon, Mo., Peterson raised more money than any single participant at Friday's event. She was cheered on by friends, family and by Mackenzie's cousin Maiya Woelbling, 10, of St. Louis.

"It feels so weird," the newly bald Peterson said.

"Probably," she said, laughing. "I don't know if my mom will let me."
