Relay for Life Kickoff Party This Week at Lincoln-Way East

Relay for Life might be month away, but local fundraisers are getting going this week. Organizers will hold a kickoff party Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Relay For Life is a community festival to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer and to fight back against cancer with moving ceremonies, live music, good food and fun activities for all ages.

Teams of families, friends and co-workers raise awareness and funds for cancer research, prevention programs and patient services. Visit the kickoff party to learn more about how you can be part of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Frankfort/Mokena. GET MORE INFO.

THURSDAY, FEB. 6
Senior Coffee and Treats

Seniors 55 and older are invited to the Senior Center in the New Lenox Public 
Library, 120 Veterans Parkway, on Feb. 6 at 10:30 a.m. The Senior Center is located in the Adult Service Department on the second floor. See what the library has to offer seniors.  Read, play cards, or chat with other seniors. Sit and stay awhile.

Coffee and treats will be served. This will be an ongoing event occurring the first Thursday of every other month.

FRIDAY, FEB. 7
Tinley Park Golf Expo
Kick off the golf season early by attending the Tinley Park Golf Expo presented by Global Golf Post.

The 3rd annual Expo has expanded once again with more exhibitors. Jump-start your 2014 golf season with:
  • Bargains on clubs, bags, shoes, clothing and more
  • Hourly raffles and giveaways  
  • Deals at area courses, resorts and travel destinations
  • Demo area to test out the newest equipment  
  • FREE instruction from PGA professionals
  • Long Drive & Long Putt Contests (donations to benefit the First Tee of Greater Chicago) 
  • Junior Learning Center for kids

Expo Hours/Admission Prices:
  • Friday, Feb. 7: Noon – 7 p.m.—$5
  • Saturday, Feb. 8: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.—$10
  • Sunday, Feb. 9: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.—$10
Children under the age of 12 (with paid adult) and active-duty military are free. Parking is free.

In conjunction with the Tinley Park Golf Expo, Heartland Blood Centers will be hosting a blood drive at the Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 8. The first 20 individuals who donate blood will receive free admission into the Expo.

SUNDAY, FEB. 9
Knights of Columbus Free-Throw Challenge

Open to boys and girls, ages 10–14 (as of Feb. 1, 2014). No entry fee. From 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Lincoln-Way North High School Field House.

SIGN UP: At St. Anthony Church, 7659 W Sauk Trail in Frankfort, after all masses the weekend of Feb. 8–9, or at Lincoln-way North High School Field House between 1:30 and 2 p.m., Feb. 9.

RULES: Each individual will take 15 free throws. The player that sinks the most, wins. Winners of each age group will advance to District/Regional
