Country Music and Farm Festival Highlight the Weekend in L-W

Country music performers will be playing in New Lenox and Mokena this weekend.

Here's a list of some of the happenings around the Lincoln-Way communities this weekend. 

Friday

Eli Young Country Concert

The Eli Young Band performs at 9 p.m. with the Grammy-nominated country and western band at the Village Commons.  Tickets are $25 and available at New Lenox Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway.

Marty J. Larson II Foundation Golf Outing

Martin J. Larson II Foundation Golf Outing is planned. Check-in is 10:30 a.m. at Sanctuary Golf Course, 485 N. Marley Road in New Lenox. For more information, view the Marty Larson Foundation website.

Bogo $5 Bag Sale at Fish Resale

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the Bogo FISH Resale Shop, 9625 W. 194th Place, Mokena, is having a $5 bag sale. FISH is a community-based organization to help needy families.

Saturday

David Molinari at Mokena Downtown Market

David Molinari is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. performing your favorite oldies at Downtown Mokena Merchants Market, Front Street at Wolf Road in Mokena.

Farm & Barn Fest Features Agriculture Demos, Flea Market, Quilting and a Country Concert

The Farm & Barn Festival at Yunker Farm, 10824 LaPorte Road in Mokena, is slated for Saturday, Aug. 17. It has something for everyone. So keep this daylong event on your radar. It's a trip back to the 19th century where kids can watch a genuine sheep shearing contest, woodworking, spinning and more.

The festival begins at 10 a.m. and shuts down at 11 p.m. with the completion of a country concert by Mokena's very own Sean Skyler Duofollowed by headliner Crazy Talk.

Make sure to take advantage of the flea market, which runs from8 a.m.-2 p.m. on the East Soccer Fields at the Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center, 10847 W. LaPorte Road. The 6th annual Quilt Show is scheduled from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center.

No community festival is complete without the baby contest. It starts at 10:30 a.m. at Yunker Farm.

Now for the kids, there will be potato sack races, giant slides, pony hops and min-tractor rides.   

Sunday

Concerts on the Green

The band, Final Say, a pop contemporary group, will be entertaining music lovers from 6:30-8 p.m. at Breidert Green, Kansas and S. White Streets in Frankfort. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
