El Cortez is fine for Margs and mini burritos, but otherwise- pass.

I don't even know how they can screw Mexican food up, but they do. Stale, bland rice and frijoles that taste like mud.

El Cortez is THE best! I have been eating at El Cortez for well over 20 years, including the original in Blue Island. What kind of sandwich did your grandkids order? Never had bad service or bad food.

horrible place. charged for a sandwhich we sent back to kitchen. manager refused to take it off the bill even though we didn;'t eat a bite of it. very rude and unprofessional.told us in front of our 2 and 4 year old grandkids they didn't want "customers like us". We havethe right IN THIS COUNTRY to send food back if it comes out looking like road kill. and not pay for it. we had to actually call the police to have it taken off the bill. all this for $6.00. way to do business, especially in this economy. grand kids so upset they were crying. nice job el cortez! never again.

Food is good. Service is awful. I always give some place a few chances prior to making up my mind. Pitful service. Long wait for waiter / drink order and even longer for food. Restaurant not even that busy. If you want their food do takeout and save yourself alot of aggravation.
