Tribes has carved a nice niche out for itself in the south suburbs. There are few places that carry as many craft brews (currently, 45 taps) anywhere around here, and the selection is fantastic. The food is pretty great, too. Lately, they've been trying some different items each night of the week, and expanding from the basic pub fare that other establishments typically offer. It's also very family-friendly during dining hours -- you won't be the only one dragging your toddler along. Call ahead for sure, because they don't have a ton of room, but it's definitely worth it. Looking forward to the Tinley location opening up, also!

Great place to meet up with friends and grab a few drinks. It's refreshing to see a place that carries microbrews. There are far too few places in the south suburbs where you can try a beer you've never had before. Sure, you'll pay a bit more for that, but it beats the same old Miller/Bud/Coors products all the time. I'm glad there is going to be a Tinley Park location soon as that is much closer to me. I plan on being there often with friends.
Did drop by... beer was good, but expensive and the food was terrible.
The Tribes Alehouse in Mokena has never disappointed us yet with its more than 40 different craft beers on tap and its interesting menu. On Dec. 9, however, they outdid themselves for us with a great dining event – a five-course meal chosen by the chef with selected beer pairings for each course. It was the equivalent of anything you’d find in the city, and at $40 per person, it was a great bargain, too.
Owner Niall Freyne and his chef put a lot of effort into the menu and the presentation. Niall poured each of the beers for us and explained their origin, taste, and how they would complement each course of our meal. The menu was baked scallop gratin with North Coast PranQster Ale; cheddar and ale soup with Tyranena Bitter Woman IPA; warm confit of duck and cherry salad with Monks Café Flemish Red Ale; maple syrup-glazed stuffed pork chops with Smuttynose Big Brown Ale; and Scotch Ale chocolate mousse with Rogue Chocolate Stout.
Both the beer neophytes and the aficionados in our group found something they liked. If there was anything wrong at all with the menu, it would be that there was almost too much food. The Tribes may want to consider serving smaller portions at these tasting menu dinners or perhaps even offer a three-course menu option.
A minimum of six people and reservations are required for these events, but if you want a more casual dining experience, you can also just drop by and order pub food off the regular menu.
We'll definitely be back!

Decent place....not great due to the small location they occupy. The place can get very NOISY....so turn up your hearing aids. They do have a great selection of craft beers on tap.
