Providence Catholic Baseball Shuts Out Brother Rice, Advances to Regional Finals

Providence Catholic easily handled Brother Rice in baseball regional semis.

It was a dominating win for Providence Catholic as the Celtics defeated Brother Rice in the Class 4A baseball regional semifinals Friday night.  Playing at Sandburg High School in Orland Park, the Celtics had a strong showing both in the batter's box and on the pitching mound. With a final score of 6-0, the Celtics benefited from the solid pitching of Jake Godfrey. The 6-foot-3 junior had strong command of his inside two seam fastball throughout the game giving up just two hits. The playoff pressure quickly diminished as he settled into the game.   "After that first inning it changed, and it was just like a regular start," Godfrey said.  View More Game Photos: Providence Catholic and Brother Rice in Baseball Playoff Action Patch’s MVP: …
