Fall Fest Hits Single-Day Attendance Record; 'Fright Fest' Named '13 Theme

Officials estimate about 150,000 visitors came to Frankfort Fall Festival on Monday. Overall attendance, however, was down from last year. Did the rain keep you from going to the event? Share your thoughts about the weekend here.

Although overall attendance was down this year thanks to the rain, the last day of Frankfort Fall Festival set a single-day record, with the sunny and warm weather attracting visitors Labor Day. WATCH: Neighbors' Water Balloon Fight Continues This Year … With an Unexpected Ally Event officials estimate about 150,000 people attended the festival Monday, Sept. 3, said Corielle Heath, the Fall Fest public relations chairwoman, in an email. This is the second consecutive year the festival has reached a single-day record after a bout of bad weather. Last year, officials estimated about 100,000 visitors attended the Sunday of the festival after a severe—but brief—rainstorm shut down the event for a bit.  Early attendance estimates for the three-…

Paying for parking in people's front yard is simply ridiculous they shouldn't be allowed to do that as its so busy over on Nebraska street as kids are walking everywhere and the residents are cramimg cars in their front lawn along with …   more ›

Fall Fest: New Ally Joins a Side in Wet Tradition Between Neighbors (Video)

The annual, post-parade water balloon fight between the Waldrons and Doogans was a bit lopsided this year. That's why a certain community website might have tried to even up the sides.

It's not the Hatfields and McCoys. Heck, it's not even a contentious episode of Family Feud. READ: Fall Fest Hits Single-Day Attendance Record; 'Fright Fest' Is Theme for '13 But for the past 11 years or so, the day of the Frankfort Fall Festival turns into all-out war for North sider Terry Waldron and South sider Veva Doogan, who live across the street from on another at the intersection of Walnut and Nebraska streets. Well, it's all-out war for the five minutes or so that it takes both sides to fling all their water balloons after the parade end. Patch was on hand again to capture this village tradition. However, we admit to throwing our objectivity out the window and joining Waldron's side this year. That meant helping to recruit "water…

Fall Fest Good Samaritan Returns Lost Wallet Containing Close to $1K

A woman who refused to identify herself returned a purple Coach wallet she found Saturday morning after it had been inadvertently left in a portable toilet on Kansas Street.

Rain dampened most of the Frankfort Fall Festival's official opening day, but the actions of an unknown Good Samaritan provided a bright spot for a very thankful festival visitor. A woman who didn't wish to be identified returned a lost wallet that had close to $1,000 in cash during Fall Fest on Saturday, Sept. 1, event officials said. READ: Check Out the Entire Fall Fest Schedule At around 11:10 a.m., a woman in her 30s reported leaving behind her purple Coach wallet in a portable toilet on Kansas Street, near the beer tent and food court, said festival communications co-chair Bette Bulmer, who took the report at the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce offices.
