You might be able to find help fighting breast cancer and other types of cancers at your local grocery store and fitness centers, according to the research findings of Dr. Marian Neuhouser, Ph.D, RD. Dr. Neuhouser is a nutritional epidemiologist with a background in nutritional sciences. She is an investigator at Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Her research is focused on lifestyle factors such as nutrition and physical activity. Some factors may prevent breast and prostate cancer and improve survivorship in those diagnosed with cancer. "Volley for the Cure" will honor cancer fighters and survivors and raise funds for Susan G. Komen.
The Lincoln-Way East High School girls volleyball team will hit the courts for a worthy cause this Thursday at the fifth annual Volley for the Cure breast cancer awareness match. “Volley for the Cure is a nationwide effort to honor and celebrate the heroic fight against breast cancer,” said head girls volleyball coach Linda Vivona in a press release from Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210. “We hope the community will join us.” Breast cancer survivors and individuals currently battling breast cancer are invited to be recognized and receive a flower from the players between matches. The cure for breast cancer may not be around the corner, but for many on the South Side, it's still worth walking for.
Thousands of people traded their worries and fears earlier today for a pair of soft sneakers and pink-ribbon T-shirts.
