A 16-year-old boy was killed Tuesday night in a one-vehicle crash in Homer Township, the SouthtownStar is reporting. Will County sheriff's police said Jay Vana was found partially underneath a pickup that had left the road and rolled over. Vana, who had been a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle, the paper reported. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead. Will County police were called at 8:38 p.m. to Lauffer and Haas roads. Upon arrival, a 16-year-old male from Lockport was found yelling for help. A car accident near Lincoln-Way East High School shortly after 1 p.m. slowed traffic on La Grange Road Monday.
One person was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields with minor injuries after a multi-vehicle accident about 1:15 p.m. Monday. Frankfort police said the accident report was unavailable but Frankfort Fire District Assistant Chief Larry Rauch said was victim was transported by ambulance to St. James. The accident tied up the intersection of Colorado Street and La Grange Road for less than an hour. Witnesses on the scene said it appeared a vehicle attempting to turn left from La Grange Road onto Colorado and a northbound car struck each other. MONDAY, AUG. 13 Brian J. Klir, of the 11600 block of Blackhawk Court, was arrested at his home on an outstanding warrant after calling police around 2:30 a.m., claiming his neighbor owed him money. While discussing his complaint, Klir gave his driver's license to officers, who ran it through the police database and found Klir had an outstanding Cicero arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe, according to the report. Klir was arrested and posted $500 bond. His next court date is Aug. 21. Attempts by police to contact the neighbor about the money matter were unsuccessful, the report stated. Maria G. Manhattan resident Jake Stevens, 22, died in a Frankfort Township car accident. New Lenox man Kevin Krohn was driving the vehicle, and police suspect alcohol was involved in the crash.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the fatal car accident that killed a Manhattan man Saturday while the driver, a New Lenox man, escaped. The accident occurred about 3:45 a.m. Aug. 25 in Frankfort Township. The passenger, 22-year-old Jake Stevens of Manhattan, died as a result of burns. Stevens was a passenger in a car driven by Kevin Krohn, 22, of New Lenox, when the vehicle went off the road and hit an obstruction. A 26-year-old Manhattan man died Wednesday night following a three-car crash in New Lenox Township. Bryan L. Bulger was pronounced dead shortly after he was extricated from his car and airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital. Traffic is stopped on Interstate 80 after a semi truck going west crossed the median and collided with another car, a witness said.
A semi truck collided with another car Monday morning on Interstate 80, closing down lanes and sending two people to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. According to a witness on the scene, a truck headed westbound blew out a tire and crossed the median, hitting a car that was moving east. The accident occurred just east of Gougar Road in New Lenox. The witness said an infant was removed from the car and appeared to be OK. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital, but the witness said she appeared conscious. An SUV collided with a pickup truck Friday in front of the Wolf Road entrance of Speedway gas station.
Two men and two women were hospitalized Friday after a collision between an SUV and a pickup truck near Wolf Road and U.S. Route 30, according to police and fire officials at the scene. The four people injured were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, and the seriousness of their conditions was not known, said Frankfort Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Nick Peters. The individuals were able to get out of their vehicles after the accident and were gathered at the side of Wolf Road when rescue crews arrived, Peters added. Earlier this week, a judge denied a Frankfort teen on probation for reckless driving his request to go to the Grammy Awards because the 19-year-old hadn't sent apologies to the couple seriously injured after he ran a stop sign in Mokena three years ago, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune. On Thursday, Raihan "Ray" Sayeed, now a sophomore at Loyola University, sent an e-mail to the Tribune saying he was sorry and that his apology letters weren't sent by his probation officer despite being completed three days after his sentencing in November. Principal Michael Gardner's car rolled over after colliding with another driver Thursday at Route 30 and Schoolhouse Road.
Article updated at 12:30 p.m. Friday Police say Lincoln-Way North Principal Michael Gardner ran a red light, causing an accident that resulted in his car rolling over Thursday at Route 30 and Schoolhouse Road. Gardner was extracted from his black Chevy SUV and taken to Silver Cross Hospital with unknown injuries. Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz of the New Lenox Police Department said the other driver was not injured and that there were no passengers in either vehicle.
