A former Lincoln-Way Central High School teacher jailed for allegedly threatening district officials was found unfit to stand trial. Ryan Gardner, 41, will be taken from the Will County jail to a facility run by the Illinois Department of Human Services. Garnder will be returned to Joliet to face the charges if his condition improves. Gardner has been locked since Jan. 16. Before that, he was receiving psychiatric treatment at University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago. A Will County judge ruled Thursday that Bahaa Sam is sane enough to stand trial for allegedly beating his wife to death with a weightlifter's bar.
A Tinley Park man charged with beating his wife to death with a metal bar while their young son watched was found sane enough to stand trial for her murder. Hours after a Will County Judge found a New Lenox man guilty of punching another man into a coma, she received an email from the state's attorney's office. Frankfort's Fire and Police Commission wants the alleged victim of Frankfort cop Donald Walsh to testify before a disciplinary hearing, reports the Sun-Times Media.
While the courts are pursuing the criminal case against Frankfort Police Officer Donald Walsh for alleged aggravated domestic battery and burglary charges, the official disciplinary action by the Frankfort Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is seeking testimony from the victim. That may be a violation of the victim's rights. Walsh, who is accused of beating his former girlfriend in July 2012, is facing a hearing of the Fire and Police Board. Village Attorney David Silverman is seeking testimony from the victim, who fears she could be at risk if she agrees to testify. A Frankfort cop charged with beating up his Mokena girlfriend was slapped with an additional count of residential burglary during his arraignment Friday morning. Donald Walsh, 29, pleaded not guilty to that charge, as well as to the counts of domestic battery and aggravated domestic battery he was already facing for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in July. Special prosecutor Dave Neal said the residential burglary charge stems from Walsh allegedly breaking into the home of his 32-year-old girlfriend with the intent to batter her. An attorney representing an Orland Park man charged with causing a deadly drunken New Year's crash in 2010 will review an accident reconstruction report after he returns to the United States.
An expert witness' reconstruction report on the New Year's 2010 crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old New Lenox woman must be reviewed by a lawyer before a judge will decide whether to allow it at trial. But that lawyer, Joseph Casciato, is out of the country, his co-counsel, Jeffrey Aprati, said during a Wednesday morning hearing at the Markham courthouse. Cook County Judge Frank Zelezinski noted he has a busy schedule of upcoming trials and pushed the aggravated driving under the influence case against 25-year-old Nicholas Sord back to July 9. Gardner, who has been jailed since January for allegedly threatening Lincoln-Way school district officials, still wanted to speak even after his attorney warned him that prosecutors could end up using his words against him. The Frankfort pediatrician charged with molesting five women in his doctor's office was arraigned on a 16-count indictment.
A Frankfort pediatrician charged with groping five women in his Colorado Avenue office already lost his medical license. Now he can't have a passport either. Dr. Kishor Jain, 59, was ordered to turn in his passport during his arraignment in Will County court Thursday morning. Jain's attorney, Gerald Kielian, said the passport had already been surrendered the the sheriff's department, but Jain would still comply with the order. Special prosecutor Dave Neal, who asked Judge Robert Livas to order Jain to surrender his passport, said he believes Jain is originally from India.
