While on a quest for scrap metal in Mokena, one man instead collected a handful of felony charges this month. David B. Nicholas, 25, of Chicago, arrived at Calumet Screw, 19600 S. 97th Ave., on Sept. 13 at about 1 p.m. and told employees to load up his truck with scrap metal, according to police. Instead, they called Mokena police. Officers told Nicholas to stay by the squad car as they looked into the situation, but Nicholas kept trying to walk away, police said. During a struggle, Nicholas was told to sit, according to the report. Calumet Screw did not press theft charges, police said, but police arrested him on a resisting arrest charge and he was released on bond. SATURDAY, SEPT. 20 Brittany A. Rotto, 22, of the 700 block of Schoolgate Road in New Lenox, and Sarah A. Frazier, 28, of the 10700 block of Mary Lane in Mokena, were cited for theft and disorderly conduct, police said. Police were called to Denny's, 19099 Old LaGrange Rd., after Rotto and Frazier tried to leave without paying their $44 tab at 6 a.m. The waitress said the two women ordered their food and asked for several items boxed, according to the report. Rotto would go back and forth to the bathroom, and the waitress told police it seemed the women were trying to skip out on their bill, but they were waiting for some Will County Sheriff's deputies to leave, according to the report.
