Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is sponsored by the Will County Land Use Department, Resources Recovery and Energy Division. The annual event this year is scheduled form 8 a.m.-3 p.m. April 27 at Crete-Monee High School, 1515 W. Exchange St., Crete. Frankfort Township Officials together with Will County Green are promoting the collection. For more information, check the Will County Green website. The collection is specifically for household chemicals, such as paint thinners, oil-based paint, aerosol paints, pesticides, lawn chemicals and more. It was clear early in the evening that it was a Republican sweep for Frankfort Township officials.
Those who cast a ballot Tuesday gave incumbents for Frankfort Township a clear vote of confidence. Every office and the trustees were re-elected for another four-year term. The after-the-polls-close party at Jameson's Pub, 9545 W. St. Francis Road, where Republican incumbents gathered to watch the returns, got enthusiastic early. As each of the precincts came in, it was a clear victory for those who have been running the township for the past four years. The winners are: Kral, assessor, was the top vote-getter for Frankfort Township. He raked in a total of 5,546 compared to challenger George Perros, with 2,395. Carlson re-gained his position as highway commissioner with 5,022 votes compared to challenger Mike Benoit, who received 2,742 …

Cory Singer replaces Ed Ronkowski as the chairperson for the Frankfort Township Republicans.
Mokena's Ed Ronkowski gave up his position of chair of the Frankfort Township Republican organization on March 15. Cory Singer, 40, of Frankfort, accepted the position, beginning March 26. Ronkowski, who served as Frankfort Township Republican chair for four years, said time demands forced a decision to step away from leadership in the township. He maintains his role as chair for the Will County Republicans. A retired attorney, Ronkowski said the volunteer position in Frankfort Township was too time-consuming. He was spending between four and eight hours a day in the job. Now he has more time to dedicate to the role of chair for the Will County Republicans. A how-to freeze your property tax bill for seniors is scheduled this month for by the Frankfort Towship Assessor's Office. Two sessions are offered in April.
Seniors who want a smaller property tax bill should attend one of the Frankfort Township Assessor's Senior Freeze Days. It’s a great way to make sure a tax bill is as low as it can go. This year’s Senior Freeze Days are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 5 and April 24 at the Frankfort Township Municipal Complex, 11000 W. Lincoln Highway, Frankfort. “We want to help the seniors out,” Joe Kral, Frankfort Township assessor said. “We want them to be able to take care of this without going to the County Office Building in downtown Joliet. We want to make sure they have all the assistance they need.” Kral will have additional workers at his office to help home owners complete the forms to request the exemptions. Family and Pet Easter Spring Fling is coming up.
It seems in Frankfort Township that Easter is going to the dogs and cats. It's all part of the fun. So in the words of Neil Diamond "pack up the babies and grab the old ladies and everyone come" to the second annual Family and Pet Easter Spring Fling. The event is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 30 at Frankfort Animal Control, 9434 W. LaPorte Road, Mokena. Dogs, cats and other pets are welcome. They must be leashed or in a carrier, and each animal must have a current rabies vaccination tag or certificate. There will be an Easter egg hunt for kids and their pets, an inexpensive micro-chipping service, vendors, speakers and raffle prizes. Hot dogs, of course, will be offered for lunch at no charge.
