Village Board Talks Commercial, Government Building Projects

The business community in Mokena is poised for growth in 2013, according to Trustee John Mazzorana.

Ground will break on multiple building projects in Mokena in the near future. The Mokena Village Board discussed upcoming development plans at a meeting Monday evening. Director of Economic and Community Development Alan Zordan said that construction on a new Meijer location at the intersection of Wolf Road and Lincoln Highway is likely to begin in the coming months. Meijer to Build in Mokena in 2013

The supermarket determined last week that it will begin construction on a store in Mokena later this year.

Meijer is coming to Mokena. The supermarket chain, which has owned a lot on the southwest corner of Lincoln Highway and Wolf Road for years, will begin building a store in 2013, with plans to open in 2014, said Alan Zordan, who is the director of economic and community development for the village. Meijer committed to building an approximately 200,000-square-foot store last week, after months of discussion with village officials. Check back with Patch for more details on the Meijer development.
