Marijuana, Ecstasy Recovered During Traffic Stop: Blotter

Mokena police reports, May 3.

FRIDAY, MAY 3 William J. Rubino, 19, of the 10400 block of Lexington Lane, Frankfort, was charged with theft, according to a report. He is accused of taking 4 Xbox games, which were sold to a local store. Rubino reportedly told police he was “sorry” and wanted to make restitution. Kyle W. West, 21, of the 12700 block of Park Place, Crestwood, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, improper displaying of registration and improper lane use, according to a report. Man Charged with DUI Calls Cops 'D' Students: Blotter

Mokena police reports, April 20.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20 Robert R. Schumacher, 35, of the 6300 block of Kimberly Drive, Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and improper lane use, according to a report. Police stopped Schumacher at about 9:54 p.m. in the 19800 block of South LaGrange Road after seeing his SUV accelerate rapidly and weave in its lane, according to the report. He told police he had four craft beers at a local bar. He performed field sobriety tests, after which he was arrested. During the arrest, he asked if he could call his “state trooper buddy” but was denied. Police said he continued to be belligerent and told officers that “cops are ‘D’ students." DUI & Drug Charges for Mokena Man: Blotter

Mokena police reports, April 12-13.

FRIDAY, APRIL 12 Andrew J. Doering, 25, of the 18700 block of Creekview Lane, Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, possession of drug equipment, improper lane use and driving without front registration, according to a report. Police stopped Doering at about 8:50 p.m. in the 11200 block of West 187th Street, drift across the double sold yellow road line. An officer was able to smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana. Doering performed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Police recovered a glass pipe and 6.9 grams of a substance that tested positive for marijuana. He is due on May 15 in Joliet court. 2 Men Busted on Drug Charges Outside Mokena Motel

Police said they found cocaine, marijuana and a 12 gauge shotgun when they investigated two men sitting in a parked car near the Super 8 motel.

Two man face drug possession charges after police found them with cocaine and a shotgun. John J. Porter, 29, of the 10000 block of West 145th Street in Orland Park, and Christopher A. Hannigan, 21, of the 8100 block of Blarney Road in Tinley Park, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, according to a report. Police were patrolling the Super 8 Motel, 9485 W 191st St., at about 5:26 a.m. on March 28 when two men were spotted inside a parked car. White Castle Muncher Charged with DUI: Blotter

Mokena police report, March 31.

SUNDAY, MARCH 31 Chris E. Novy, 41, of the 20500 block of South Grand Prairie Lane in Frankfort, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license and improper lane use, according to a report. Novy was stopped at about 3:31 a.m. in the 19400 block of South LaGrange Road after police reportedly saw him swerve between lanes and drive far slower than the posted limit, among other infractions. Novy told police he and his passenger had stopped at White Castle for hamburgers and were looking for a motel to stay at, according to the report. SATURDAY, MARCH 9 Elisha M. Sefcik, 28, and Bryan G. Sefcik, 27, both of the 200 block of South Raynor Avenue in Joliet, were charged with retail theft, according to a report. Police allege they took over-the-counter medication, a Boom Cube portable speaker, and baby products and toiletries from Walgreens, 20002 S. Wolf Rd. Elisah also was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, unlawful use of a driver’s lciense, failure to surrender license, failure to wear a seat belt and fleeing and eluding, according to the report. Knierim, 59, of the 8500 block of West 191st in Mokena, was arrested on two outstanding warrants, one from Mokena police and the other from Will County, according to a report. He was taken to Mokena Police Department and then transported to the Will County jail. MONDAY, MARCH 11 An air conditioner was reported stolen from a home in the 10300 block of Lindsay Lane in Mokena, according to a report. Hit and Run Accident: Mokena Police Blotter

Incidents of assault, criminal damage to property and battery dominated the Mokena police blotter.

SATURDAY, FEB. 23 Hit and run accident nets DUI arrest Gerald Verde, 62, of the 9900 block of W. Mokena Street, was charged with DUI, hit and run and driving too fast for conditions and improper lane use after an accident at 7:17 p.m. in a parking lot in the 19200 block of Everett Lane. According to the report, a witness notified police that Verde had struck a fire hydrant, a couple trees and a wooden mailbox in the lot, causing heavy damage to the front of his vehicle. He left the scene after telephoning his wife to come pick him up. Police tracked him down at his home and found him asleep in a bedroom. FRIDAY, FEB. 8 Woman refuses sex, man charged with battery Mark Loven, 24, of the 9900 block of Sussex Court, was charged with battery for insisting on sex from a 20-year-old Frankfort woman and then pulling her hair when she refused. According to the report, Loven and the woman had left a home in the 10800 block of W. LaPorte Road; they were en route to a store for snacks. While the woman was driving, Loven reportedly insisted on sex. She refused. The woman, according to police, said when she refused the man, he grabbed her by the hair and attempted to bang her head into the steering wheel. She said Loven was screaming at her. New Lenox Man Found Passed Out at the Wheel; DUI

Mokena police arrested a New Lenox man for DUI, after he was found passed out at the wheel.

Mokena police found a 32-year-old New Lenox man passed out at the wheel of his car with the engine running. The car was found at 3:45 a.m. Feb. 8 in the middle of two lanes of traffic on 191st St. at Wolf Road. According to the report, police said Taiwo Erinle's foot was on the brake, but the car was in the drive position. He was passed out at the wheel with the windows rolled up and rap music blaring.  The officer drove the squad about six inches in front of Erinle's car. He placed a push bar between the two bumpers to prevent Erinle's car from moving into traffic unexpectedly.  Police say it took shining a flashlight into the vehicle, pounding on the window and yelling to stir Erinle from his stupor.
