Did Big-Hearted Biker Stop at Cuzin's for a Drink After His Own Funeral?

The Last Ride? Friends recall Gerald "Jerry Mack" McElligott, who lived a life of jokes, friendship, motorcycles and charity ... and left us with a little bit of mischief.

Cuzin's Tavern on Oak Park Avenue is done up for Halloween, with fake spiderwebs, tombstones and skeletons, so first-time patron Deanna Schmidt assumed the casket sitting on the bar was also fake. "I actually thought it was a gag so I walked up a little closer and I saw there was a white man in there," Schmidt, of Plainfield, said. Schmidt said she "freaked out" and left the bar Friday night, where she was meeting a friend. On the drive home, she decided to call the police, she said. "(The dispatcher) was like, 'Is this a Halloween joke? You could be in trouble,'" Schmidt said. "And I said 'Ma'am, I'm 40 years old. I don't play gags.'" It is so hard to sum up this larger than life man everyone knew as Mack.
