Alleged Tinley Park Wife-Killer Bahaa Sam Found Fit to Stand Trial

A Will County judge ruled Thursday that Bahaa Sam is sane enough to stand trial for allegedly beating his wife to death with a weightlifter's bar.

A Tinley Park man charged with beating his wife to death with a metal bar while their young son watched was found sane enough to stand trial for her murder. Bahaa Sam, 47, appeared before Will County Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak Thursday morning and learned an evaluation of his mental state showed he is fit to face the murder charges. Fund Established for Sam Children

Local churches, schools and other organizations are offering support to assist the Sam children, whose mother died Wednesday and whose father is charged with murder.

In the wake of a tragedy, the Tinley Park community is working to provide comfort. Local organizations are coordinating efforts to support four Tinley Park children after their father was charged with the first-degree murder of their mother. Nermeen Gamel Sam, 38, was found dead on Wednesday outside her home in the 19700 block of Silverside Drive, according to Tinley Park Police. Will County prosecutors say Bahaa A. District 161 Offers Extra Counselors After Parent Death, Murder Charges
