South Suburban DUI Arrests, March 10

Not speaking clearly, saying too much and mentioning your conversation with Santa Claus can give you away. Loose lips sink drivers in this week's Southland's drunken driving reports.

  TINLEY PARK March 2: Michael A. Kuzminski, 20, of the 18000 block of Highland Avenue, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC over .08, speeding and no insurance, following an incident near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Hickory Street. Police initially stopped Kuzminski after witnessing him driving 57 mph in a 40-mph zone. During the stop, Kuzminski was unable to provide a valid insurance card and admitted to having a few drinks at this girlfriend's house, according to the police report. Officers noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Kuzminski and asked him to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to the report. Kuzminski was …

Rollovers, pond landing and hangups in the median. Tell-tale signs of an arrest in the making this week in the Southland's drunken driving reports.

ORLAND PARK Feb. 5: Police were called about a rollover accident near Corso Drive and Wolf Road around 1 a.m. A witness told police the car was driving north on Wolf Road when it crossed over the southbound lanes and into the adjacent ditch, police said. The car continued across Corso Drive where it then rolled over, ending in the ditch north of Corso, according to the report. Police saw beer cans in the car, smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and the driver later tested positive for drinking, police said. Samuel Temich-Cocuyo, 27, of the 9000 block of Kennedy Court in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid license, driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane use. Man falls asleep during police questioning • DUI causes three-car accident • Man answers every police question with "south" • "I'm a man, I can complete (field sobriety) tests."

FRANKFORT Jan. 12: Richard H. Reinke, 58, of the 300 block of N. Maple Street in Frankfort, was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content above .08 at 7:59 p.m. Jan. 12 at the intersection of La Grange Road and Lincoln Highway. Driver 'knows he's under .08' • Driver speeds into McD's parking lot, flees on foot • Driver allegedly hits pedestrian, checks to see if he's alive, then flees—this week's roundup of drunken driving arrests in the Southland.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS  Jan. 10: Abraham Ortiz, 33, of the 200 block of W. 14th Street, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after he disregarded a traffic light and almost hit a police cruiser near the intersection of 14th Street and East End Avenue, according to the report.  Police stopped Ortiz and noticed he had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol, according to the report. Asked if he had been drinking, Ortiz told police he had three beers about an hour before driving, but later changed the number to four. Ortiz was also unable to provide a valid driver's license, police said. Ortiz took a Breathalyzer test and registered a blood-alcohol content level of .181, according to the report. He racked up …

Driver blows through stoplight • Woman wracks up felony charges • Man was carrying pot, driving under the influence. This week's roundup of drunken driving arrests in the Southland.

EVERGREEN PARK JAN. 1: A Chicago man walked away with a list of charges after a ride through Evergreen Park in the early morning hours after New Year's Eve.  On Jan. 1 at 1:05 a.m. Christan Adams, 22, of Chicago, was seen disobeying a traffic light, police said. He then sped off driving through a train crossing against a signal as well, police said.  Adams and his green Chevy were traveling 85 mph in a 30 mph zone as he took off eastbound on 95th Street, police said. Chicago police became involved in the chase and Adams' car was eventually stopped in the 1800 block of 95th Street.  A blood draw was performed after he was taken into custody, police said.  Adams was charged with felony fleeing and alluding, driving under the influence, …

Doubtful. There was just a case in Will Co. where a person got 3 DUI's in about 9 months(at least 4 overall). He pled guilty and got only 1 year and $1700 fine.   more ›

      FRANKFORT DEC. 20: Ronald H. Grimmenga, 47, of the 7700 block of Bristol Park Drive in Tinley Park, was cited for driving while intoxicated and having a blood alcohol concentration of more than .08 at 11:25 p.m. on the 200 block of Wisconsin Road. He was released on bond. His court date is Jan. 2. DEC. 21: Aurelio Ramirez, 49, of the 100 block of Mt. School board member, Robbins police chief busted for second DUI.

PALOS HEIGHTS DEC. 15: Jazzi Kemp, 28, of the 14500 block of Murray Ave. in Dolton, was charged with improper lane use and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Kemp's vehicle was stopped at about 12:28 a.m. near 12700 S. Harlem Ave. for improper lane use. The driver was arrested after allegedly failing several field sobriety tests. Kemp was booked and given a $1,000 bond. EVERGREEN PARK DEC. 9: A Chicago man is facing a host of charges after police say he was stopped while fleeing the scene of an accident. On Sunday, Dec. 9 at 6:20 p.m. police say that China Miller, 36, of Chicago, was driving in the 9500 block of Trumbull when he he crossed the center lane line and struck a parked car.  A woman who witnessed the accident then flagged down police after Miller drove away. The car Miller was driving was eventually stopped in the 10400 block of Western Avenue as he was traveling at 70 miles per hour, police said.  In the backseat was a child under the age of six who was not secured and in the front of the car was an open bottle of Ciroc vodka, police said. CHICAGO HEIGHTS NOV. 18: Edwardo Mendez, 36, of the 200 block of East 22nd Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 16th Street and Campbell Avenue for running two stop signs, according to the report. Mendez was unable to provide a driver's license and had two open beers in his cup holder, police said. Police had Mendez perform field sobriety tests before taking him in to custody. Mendez was also charged with driving on a suspended license, no valid registration, illegal transportation or possession of alcohol and two counts of disobeying a stop sign, according to the report.
