A blaze ignited in a Tinley Park home Tuesday while a resident was lying down for a nap. At 2:41 p.m., his neighbors were the ones to call firefighters to the two-story home at 17208 87th Court after they saw smoke billowing from the garage, Tinley Park Fire Chief Ken Dunn said. The napping man awoke moments later to the sound of his two dogs barking. "They didn't want to become hotdogs," Dunn said, noting that there were no injuries to the resident, pets or firefighters. Tinley Park firefighters braved the flames and 93-degree temperatures to put out a house fire at 8511 Hollybrook Lane. The fire destroyed much of the home and three cars.
Two people and a firefighter were sent to the hospital after fire destroyed a home in the Brookside Glen neighborhood Saturday afternoon on Hollybrook Lane. Investigators were still looking into the cause of the fire, which was reported as starting in the garage, said Tinley Park Fire Chief Ken Dunn. The fire chief did not know the extent of the injuries to the three people sent to area hospitals and would not release their names. The fire started around 2 p.m., burning through about half of the home, the garage and three cars--a BMW, Corvette and Audi--at 8511 Hollybrook Lane.
