Carlton Fisk Lawyer Wants Judge to Strike Out DUI Evidence

The lawyer for White Sox legend Carlton Fisk filed motions to have evidence thrown out in the Hall of Famer's drunken driving case.

The lawyer for White Sox immortal Carlton Fisk is fighting to get the Hall of Famer's driver's license back and to have evidence ejected from his drunken driving case. Fisk, 64, lost his license when he allegedly refused to take a breathalyzer test during his arrest Oct. 22 on charges of driving under the influence, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol. But the Sox star had actually volunteered to take the blood-alcohol test, according to a petition filed Thursday by his attorney, Stephen White. White also filed a motion claiming the New Lenox police illegally arrested Fisk since there was "no reasonable suspicion of criminal activity" to give them cause to pull him over in the first place. Only Fisk wasn't pulled over…

John Conrath was the guy who helped, organizing fundraisers and other charity events for fellow veterans and motorcycle riders in need. After surgical complications left him unable to work, Conrath found the people he helped were there to return the favor. Also the video of him thanking his wife for her endless support is just touching. There wasn't a dry eye in the Mokena VFW during his speech. Check it out. Local businesses gathered Saturday at The Oaks to…

Silver Cross' Last Day: Patients and Memories Roll Out

As the Joliet hospital shuttled its final patients to the new location in New Lenox, employees and neighbors shared their memories.

Gwen Ulmer started as a certified nursing assistant at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet when she was 18, fresh out of high school. That was 43 years ago. "We're a dying breed that people do not begin and end their career in the same place," said Ulmer, now community relations coordinator. Sunday was the last day for Silver Cross in Joliet. As workers peeled the markings off the building, a series of ambulances started shuttling the final 129 patients down the road to a new Silver Cross in New Lenox. Read "Silver Cross Hospital Wows Patients, Families in Transition to New Lenox" to see what awaited the patients. Ulmer is not the longest-lasting employee of the Joliet facility, which moved to a new site in New Lenox on Sunday. That honor …
